David Jay Haskins (usually credited as David Jay or David J) is a British alternative rock musician. He is best known as the bass player from Bauhaus and Love & Rockets. He also sang lead vocals on several Love and Rockets songs, most notably the minor hit "No New Tale To Tell", and the Bauhaus album track "Who Killed Mr. Moonlight?" He has also released several solo albums and appeared on a Porno for Pyros release. His brother is Kevin Haskins, who completed the Bauhaus and Love and Rockets rhythm section on drums. He claims to have written the primal gothic rock song "Bela Lugosi's Dead." In 2003, he started working on the instrumental score for an independent film about Elizabeth Short directed by Ramzi Abed, which includes guest artists and singers like Dame Darcy, Julee Cruise, Abby Travis and Nora Keyes to name a few. He has also regularly shown his art in galleries across the globe, as well as been a resident dj at numerous Hollywood hot-spots like The Standard Hotel and Knitting Factory.
