David Chaum

David Chaum is the inventor of many cryptographic protocols. Chaum is widely recognised as the inventor of electronic cash.
Chaum founded DigiCash in 1990, an electronic cash company, and is currently a member of the board of directors. Chaum also founded the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR).
Dr Chaum gained a doctorate in Computer Science and Business Administration from the University of California at Berkeley. Subsequently, he taught at the New York University Graduate School of Business Administration and at the University of California.
