Dave Grossman is a noted game programmer and game designer. As a former employee of LucasArts, he was one of the programmers of the SCUMM engine. He, as well as Ron Gilbert and Tim Schafer, wrote the storyline for The Secret of Monkey Island, Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge and Day of the Tentacle.
After quitting LucasArts, Grossman joined Cavedog Entertainment and was the writer for the game Total Annihilation.
Later he joined Ron Gilbert in starting his own development company, Humongous Entertainment, and created many critically acclaimed games aimed at children, such as the Pajama Sam series.
Currently, Mr. Grossman owns and operates his own website, Phrenopolis.com, in which he displays his creative inventions and poetry. Features of the site include the "Is it Art?" section, in which Mr. Grossman displays scrap-metal sculptures, tiki statues, and CD-collages (collages pasted onto CDs), the "Pumpkin House of Horrors," which is updated every October and showcases Mr. Grossman's bizarre, painfully-detailed jack-o-lanterns, and the Poem of the Week, which is dedicated to Mr. Grossman's humorous poetry. The POTW is updated every Monday with a new poem by Grossman; in May, it reached its 500th entry.
Dave Grossman is also the author of "Ode to the Stuff in the Sink: A Book of Guy Poetry," which he self-published in 2002. The book contains a selection of Grossman's work; the poems contained therein are all dedicated to different aspects of male life, including inability to dance, old stuff in the fridge, and unwillingness to clean anything. The book is available from Phrenopolis.com's store, the "Maximegalomporium."
