Dateline

Dateline is the name of two current affairs television shows:
- Dateline NBC, a United States show on the NBC network.
- Dateline (SBS), an Australian show on the SBS network.
Both television shows take their names from the common practice of putting datelines on newspaper and magazine articles dealing with current events. Datelines are traditionally placed on the first line of the text of the article, before the first sentence, and consist of the name of the place from which the reporter filed the article and often the date and local time. The latter is often omitted, as in a daily paper one can reasonably assume that news articles are filed within 24 hours of the date of publication.
