Plot
The story takes place in 1973 (the time period of the most recent film adapation was moved forward from the 1960s Taipei of Pai's novel). Li-Qing (李青,nickname is A-Qing), the dramatis personae, is expelled from his school because of scandalous relations with a fellow student Zhao Ying (趙英), and because of this, also kicked out of his family by his father. After leaving his home, he steps into a park called "New Park" where he gets to know a lot of good friends. This story focuses on the process of A-Qing struggling between himself, his family and the society where homosexuality is taboo. It also depicts the depressing society of Taiwan during 1970s.
