Crouch End (Stephen King)
|
Crouch End is a horror story by Stephen King published in Nightmares and Dreamscapes collection. It contains distinct references to the horror fiction of HP Lovecraft.
The main characters, young American husband and wife, travel to London to the Crouch End neighborhood to visit their friend. Unbeknownst to them, but not to the local police and citizens, is the fact that weird things, especially mysterious disappearances, happen in this neighborhood. They arrive by taxi at the neighborhood, get lost promptly amidst approaching night, and then get a glimpse of the Lovecraftian horror, the gateway to which happens to be at Crouch End.
