Credentialing
|
Credentialing is the administrative process for validating the qualifications of professionals and assessing their background. Many health care institutions and provider networks conduct their own credentialing, generally through a credentialing committee. It may include granting and review of specific clinical privileges.
The process is an objective evaluation of a person's current licensure, training or experience, competence, and ability to provide particular services or perform particular procedures.
Credentialing generally occurs at commencement of employment and at regular intervals thereafter.
