Confusion

Confusion can have the following meanings:
- Unclarity or puzzlement, e.g. arising from ambiguity.
- Literally, to mix or join together. The word itself is a confusion of the prefix "con" (a variant on the Latin prefix "com", meaning "with" or "together") and the verb "fuse" (meaning "join").
- A technical concept in cryptography; see Confusion and diffusion.
- Mental confusion (such as paranoia) may be caused by drugs or mental illness. It is an imprecise term but can help analysing a patient's medical condition.
- The Confusion is a novel by Neal Stephenson.
