Composite cable
|
In telecommunication, a composite cable is a communications cable having both optical and metallic signal-carrying components.
Notes
- A cable having optical fiber(s) and a metallic component, e.g., a metallic twisted pair, used solely for conduction of electric power to repeaters, does qualify as a composite cable.
- A cable having optical fiber(s), plus a metallic strength member or armor, does not qualify as a composite cable. Contrast with hybrid cable.
