Cobb County Public Library System
|
The Cobb County Public Library System (CCPLS) is the system of 18 libraries in Cobb County, Georgia — except in Smyrna, which runs its own library. CobbCat is the online computer database of all CCPLS holdings, which replaces the old card catalogs.
The CCPLS has a system by which books from any branch can be reserved and picked up at any other branch within three business days. Each day, each branch is notified of the books requested from it, and the staff picks the books and boxes them up. A county van then picks them up and takes them to Central, where they are then sorted for dispatch on the following morning's run. Likewise, books can be returned to any library in the county, again excluding Smyrna. Other interlibrary loans from outside the county are possible but discouraged unless necessary, and the loaning library may charge a loan fee or steep late fees.
Libraries
The system's five districts are defined by the CCPLS, and the main library of each district (marked in bold) is open on sundays (1-5PM), with staff rotating in once every few weeks from all libraries in the district.
