Clavia Nord Lead
|
Clavia's Nord Lead synthesizer was arguably the first virtual analog synthesizer. Distinctive for both its red color and knob-laden surface, it was the first in a long line of synthesizers trying to emulate the sounds of classic analog synthesizers such as the Roland TB-303 or the Minimoog, a trend that continues to this day.
In contrast, earlier generations of digital synthesizers such as the Yamaha DX7 and Korg M1 had lacked the real-time controls of analog synthesizers and used different synthesis techniques such as FM or sampling, making them less suitable for techno music, trance music and other forms of electronic music.
