Church of Denmark

The Church of Denmark (Den Danske Folkekirke) is the largest Christian church in Denmark. According to official statistics from January 2002 84.3% of Danes are members of the state church, although less than 5% of their members attend weekly services. The Church of Denmark is a Lutheran body.
Church life is organized in 12 dioceses and around 2,000 parishes.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Denmark is a state church. The Danish parliament, Folketinget, is the legislative authority for the church. The Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs is the highest administrative authority.
The current Church minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen is Bertel Haarder.
