Chrysler JA platform
|
The JA platform was Chrysler's smaller complement to the LH cars. It is a small front wheel drive automobile platform and is the basis for the Cloud Cars - the Chrysler Cirrus/Dodge Stratus/Plymouth Breeze starting in 1995.
1995
The first JA cars were the 1995 Cirrus/Stratus/Breeze. These were available with 2.0 liter, 2.4 liter, and 2.5 liter straight-4 engines. A 5-speed manual transmission was available with the 2.0, and a 4-speed automatic came with the larger engines. The wheelbase was a long 108".
2001
The platform was updated in 2001, becoming JR and JX. Confusingly, the vehicle nameplates were shuffled with the Diamond Star Motors (DSM) coupes. The JA-based Dodge Stratus sedan continued, but the Stratus Coupe is a DSM car. The Cirrus became the Chrysler Sebring sedan, while the Breeze name was dropped (with the rest of Plymouth). The JX platform was used for the replacement Sebring convertible, but the Sebring coupe is an entirely different vehicle.
Engines are the 2.4 liter I4 and 2.7 liter LH V6. The wheelbase remains at 108".
