The Chief Minister of the Australian Capital Territory is the head of government of the Australian Capital Territory. The leader of the largest party in the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly usually takes on the role. Unlike in other states and territories, the Chief Minister of the ACT is not nominally appointed by an Administrator or Chief Minister, but appointed directly by the parliament. Their role is roughly equivalent to that of the Premiers of the states of Australia.
