Charles Wood, 2nd Viscount Halifax

Charles Lindley Wood, 2nd Viscount Halifax (7 January 1839 - 19 January 1934). His wife, Lady Agnes Courtenary, was the daughter of the Earl of Devon. His father, Charles Wood, was a prominent Whig politician. His third son, Edward, was Foreign Secretary on Neville Chamberlain's government. A devout Catholic, he spent his entire life as a lay-official in the British Catholic Church. Asides from this his only other achievement was his influence on his son Charles Wood who would later serve with various degrees of distinction in a number of government posts.
