Charles Baxter

Charles Baxter is an American author born in 1947 in Minneapolis. After graduation from Macalester College in Saint Paul and finishing his graduate work in English at the State University of New York at Buffalo, he began teaching at Wayne State University in Detroit. He then later directed the writing program at the University of Michigan, and now teaches at the University of Minnesota.

He also also published collections of poems and a collection of essays on fiction, Burning Down The House. His first collection of short stories, Harmony of the World, won the Associated Writing Programs Award for short fiction.
