Chance in a Million

Chance in a Million was a British sitcom broadcast in 1984 and 1986 with Simon Callow as the hapless Tom Chance, and Brenda Blethyn as his long-suffering girlfriend Alison Little.

The comedy was driven by Tom's tendency to get into trouble as a result of unlikely coincidences. A secondary source of amusement was his shyness towards Alison, who was keener on intimacy than he was. Tom also had an amusing ability to drink an entire pint of beer in one gulp whilst in the middle of speaking a sentence.
