Carcinology
|
Carcinology is a branch of both zoology and biology that deals with the science of crustaceans. Crustaceans are a group of mostly oceanic animals that includes lobsters and crabs.
Carcinology branches off into taxonomically-oriented disciplines such as astacology (study of crayfish).
Other names for carcinology are malacostracology, crustaceology, and crustalogy, and a scientist who works in carcinology is a carcinologist, a crustaceologist, or a crustalogist.
