Cape Nordkinn
|
Cape Nordkinn (also called Kinnarodden) is the northernmost point of mainland Norway, and hence the northernmost point of mainland Europe. It is located on the Nordkyn peninsula, about 30km from the village Gamvik in the county Finnmark.
At a location of 71°10'N, it is located 21 arcseconds to the south of North Cape, Europe's "official" northernmost point. However, since North Cape is located on the island of Magerøya, it cannot be counted as the northernmost point of continental Europe.
In sharp contrast to North Cape with its extensive tourist infrastructure and busloads of visitors, Cape Nordkinn is a rather lonely place that can only be visited after a two-day hike from Gamvik.
