Buffyverse
|
The Buffyverse is a term coined by fans of Joss Whedon's first two television shows to refer to the shared fictional universe in which they are set.
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer
- Angel
- Fray (comic book based on the Buffy mythology)
- Tales of the Vampires and other comics
Another variation in recent use is Slayerverse. Several other terms have been used, but are somewhat ambiguous and controversial:
- Jossverse
- Whedonverse
- ME-verse (after Mutant Enemy, Whedon's production company)
These can be interpreted to include Whedon's third television series, Firefly, which appears to have no connection whatsoever to the Buffyverse, so they might more accurately be used as an umbrella term for the creative environment centered around Whedon.
Speculation about future spin-offs not involving the character of Buffy have lead to the alternate terms to avoid tying the concept to the name of one character.
