British Steel

British Steel was a large British steel producer, consisting of the assets of former private companies which had been nationalised, largely under Labour Party governments. It was privatised in 1988 under the Thatcher government. It merged with the Dutch steel producer Koninklijke Hoogovens and they are now known as Corus.

British Steel is also the name of a heavy metal album by Judas Priest, released in April 1980 (see 1980 in music).
