Breslow's depth
|
In medicine, Breslow's depth is used as a prognostic factor in predicting the 5-year survival rate in humans who have malignant melanoma of the skin by calculating the risk of metastasis. It is determined by using an ocular micrometer to directly measure the depth tumor cells have invaded the skin measured from the granular layer of the epidermis.
Clark's levels is a related staging system, often used in conjunction with Breslow's depths, which depends on multiple anatomical landmarks in the skin.
