Brace

The word brace refers to many different things:
- Curly brackets: the { and } symbols, often used to define sets.
- Brace: a pair, two.
- Brace: a reinforcement or stabilizer in building.
- Brace or Bracer: a wrist or forearm protector.
- Brace: a slide for adjusting tension of a drum.
- Brace: a support for a scenery flat in a theatre.
- Braces: (in American English - suspenders), a support for trousers, usually elasticated.
- Brace can be an instruction to ready yourself for something, as in brace for impact before a crash.
- Brace: in cricket, the act of taking two wickets with two successive deliveries of the ball.
- Brace: a hand tool used to drill holes.
- Brace: a metal device used to progressively straighten teeth.
- Brace: also Orthosis or Orthotic a device used to immobilise a joint or body segment, restrict movement in a given direction, assist movement, reduce weight-bearing forces or correct the shape of the body (adapted from Rehabilitation Medicine, ISBN 0-397-50764-X).
