Bob Jones III
|
Robert Reynolds Jones III was the third president of Bob Jones University.
He served as president from 1971 to 2005. He is the son of Bob Jones, Jr., and the grandson of Bob Jones, Sr., the university's founder. His son, Stephen Jones replaced him as president of BJU in May of 2005.
Under his stewardship, the university abandoned its longstanding ban on interracial dating, a policy for which the university had previously lost its tax-exempt status. Jones announced the change in policy during an interview on Larry King Live on March 3, 2000.
