Bir Sreshtho

The Bir Sreshtho (The Most Valiant Hero) is the highest military award of Bangladesh. It is given to those who martyred themselves for their nation. In the history of Bangladesh, seven men have won this honor. The other 3 awards are named, in decreasing order of importance, Bir Uttom, Bir Bikrom and Bir Protik.

All the recipients of this award were killed during the Liberation War.
