William D. Delahunt (born July 18 1941), American politician, has been a Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives since 1997, representing the 10th District of Massachusetts (map (http://nationalatlas.gov/printable/images/preview/congdist/ma10_109.gif)). He was born in Quincy, Massachusetts, was educated at Boston College, served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves, and was a lawyer and a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives before entering the House.
Delahunt was first elected to Congress after a bitter primary battle against Phil Johnston of Marshfield and Ian Bowles of Woods Hole. Johnston was initially declared the winner, but a recount, which ultimately ended up being done in court, gave the victory to Delahunt.
