History
The Beretta 21 Bobcat builds on a long line of small and compact pocket pistols for self defense manufactured by Beretta.
Specifications
The Beretta 21 Bobcat is a simple blowback pistol with a single and double action trigger mechanism. It is fitted with a frame mounted thumb safety. The frame is made out of aluminium alloy, the slide and barrel are carbon steel.
Intended market
The Beretta 21 Bobcat is a backup, self defense pistol that appeals to ladies, undercover agents and police officers.
Design advantages
Simple and small, very easy to conceal. Last resort pistol. Inexpensive, very easy to maintain. Well build. The .25 ACP cartridge is rimless and this enables its magazine to contain one extra round of ammunition compared to the Beretta 21 Bobcat in 22 LR.
Limitations
The .25 ACP cartridge is too anemic to stop large attackers. The safety system is very basic. The accuracy of the pistol is only adequate at short ranges.
