A Bachelor of Commerce is an undergraduate academic degree awarded for a curriculum that generally lasts three years in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom or four years in North America. A Bachelor of Commerce may cover the same coursework as a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).
A Bachelor of Commerce usually requires a student to take a majority of their courses (usually 3/4) in commerce, namely
- Accounting
- Capital markets (Finance)
- Communications
- Computing and information systems
- Decision analysis
- Economics
- Government
- Law
- Management
- Organizational behavior
and others depending on the student's particular interest.
Most universities plan the Bachelor of Commerce degree with a rigorous course schedule.
A graduate of a Bachelor of Commerce, receives the designation BComm, or sometimes (especially in Australia and New Zealand) shortened to BCom or B.Com.
In many Australian universities, it is associated primarily with accounting skills.
