BSD Daemon, aka "Beastie"
BSD Daemon is the BSD operating system's mascot.
Many folks have asked about the BSD daemon's name. The proper name is just "BSD Daemon". A Walnut Creek advertiser wrongfully named the BSD daemon as "Chuck". He is sometimes called by the name "Beastie." The BSD Daemon is a daemon and usually carries a trident to symbolize the daemon's forking of processes. The original design of the BSD Daemon was by Marshall Kirk McKusick. The current popular version of BSD Daemon is by animation director John Lasseter.
