|
An Assembleia Municipal ("municipal assembly") governs a concelho (municipality) in Portugal. Half of the assembly's members are elected every four years, and half are the presidents of parish boards (juntas de freguesia) operating within the municipality. A municipal assembly meets five times a year, and its members are unpaid.
