Army Group Afrika
|
Army Group Afrika (German: Heeresgruppe Afrika) was the headquarters controlling all Axis forces in Tunisia during the final stages of the North African Campaign of World War II. It was created in February of 1943 by redesignating Erwin Rommel's German-Italian Panzer Army headquarters as an Army Group and handing its assets – including the Afrika Korps over to the Italian First Army. Command of the Army Group was turned over to Hans Jürgen von Arnim in March, and it surrendered on May 13, 1943, ending the Axis presence in Africa.
Assets
