Aq Bars
The coat of arms of Tatarstan is an ancient Turkic and Bolgar symbol called Aq Bars or White Bars, and has been in use since 1991. This symbol was used in Volga Bulgaria (Bilär), Khanate of Kazan (Qazan) - historical states on the Tatarstan's territory - as state symbol. White Bars comes frome one of the Bulgar tribes - Barsil tribe's tothem. By legend, Barsils founded Bilär city in Volga Bulgaria.
