Anthony E. Rand

Anthony E. Rand (born 1 September 1939) is a Democratic politician from North Carolina and a former member of the North Carolina General Assembly.
Rand was born in southern Wake County, North Carolina and graduated from Garner High School in 1957. He earned a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1961 and a law degree from the same school in 1964. Rand married Karen Skarda on 30 May, 1981.
Rand was first elected to the North Carolina Senate in 1980; he served from 1981 to 1988 and again beginning in 1994. From 1987 to 1988 and 2001 to 2002, he was the senate majority leader. Rand left the legislature following the 2001-2002 session.
