Alexander Moiseevich Gorodnitsky (Алекса́ндр Моисе́евич Городни́цкий) (b. March 20, 1933 in Leningrad) is a well known Russian bard, poet, geologist and oceanologist.
He graduated from the faculty of Geophysics, Leningrad University in 1957 and has a Ph.D. in geological and mineralogical sciences (1982). He became a professor in 1991 and has over 130 published scientific papers.
He has participated in arctic geological expeditions and sailed on board various scientific research vessels (since 1962). Most of his songs are of the Tourist Song sub-genre and are based on personal experiences.
He currently resides in Moscow and regularly performs in concerts as well as various bard festivals.
