Aktau is a city in Kazakhstan and a seaport to the Caspian Sea. Aktau is located at latitude Template:Coor dms.
In 1964, Aktau's name was changed to Shevchenko to honour the poet Taras Shevchenko, but the city was once again renamed to Aktau in 1992 after Kazakhstan gained its independence from the USSR.
Aktau used to be the site of a nuclear power station. The so-called "BN-350" went in Operation 1973. Operation was stopped 1999. BN-350 was used for breading Plutonium and for the production of energy to desalt water of the Caspic Sea.
Because Aktau was first a military city its streets have no names and all addresses in Aktau consist of three numbers: the block number, the building number and the apartment/suite/room number.
