- Johnny Spann, a CIA officer was killed in a firefight at a fortress in northern Afghanistan.
November 20, 2001
- Japan pledged logistics support for the U.S.-led anti-terrorism campaign in and around Afghanistan for six months.
November 19, 2001
- Reuters journalists Harry Burton and Azizullah Haidari, Spanish journalist Julio Fuentes and Italian journalist Maria Grazia Il Cutuli were killed by unidentified gunmen at Tangi Abrishum, Afghanistan. Suspects of the murder were finally arrested April 21, 2003. On August 5, 2004, Reza Khan was formally accused of the crimes.
