Adnams is a regional brewing company in England, producing traditional beer (real ale).
George and Ernest Adnams bought a brewery in Southwold, a town in Suffolk, in 1872. The company has remained independent since then, producing a range of traditional beers for distribution mainly in East Anglia. Annual production is around 70,000 barrels. Popular products include Suffolk Strong Bitter, Broadside and Regatta ales.
To this day, barrels of Adnams ale are delivered to the pubs of Southwold by horse and dray.
At the beginning of 2004, Adnams purchased land in neighbouring town Reydon to expand their business. An advertising campaign has also been put in place, the slogan of which is "Beer from the Coast".
One of the 100 - mainly fictitious - star names recited by the Skipping Girl at the beginning of Peter Greenaway's film Drowning By Numbers is "Adnams". The film is set in Southwold.
