Action 52
|
Action 52 is a video game multicart released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and the Sega Genesis (also known as the Sega Mega Drive) in 1991. It was produced by Active Enterprises. Many have considered it to be worst video game for the NES and also one of the worst video games of all time.
Action 52 was sold for an initial price of $200 USD, or "52 games for less than $4 each." However, the vast majority of the games on the cartridge have major glitches, at least one doesn't start at all, and most are just a variation of another game with different colors and sprites.
Other glitches include:
- Some freeze or crash minutes after loading
- Some levels are incomplete and unpassable
The flagship game on the cartridge is Cheetahmen, which had its own unreleased sequel for the NES, Cheetahmen 2.
The Sega Genesis version of Action 52 features slightly improved graphics, but has as many glitches as the NES version. Plans for a Super NES version of the game were scrapped when Active withdrew from the video game industry.
Despite its problems, this game has been a kind of a "holy grail" for video game collectors, because of its uniqueness and rarity.
