Mullah Wakil Ahmad Mutawakil (born 1958? was the foreign minister of Afghanistan in the Taliban government from 1999 until its fall in November 2001. He was believed to be as much of a radical Muslim fundamentalist as the rest of the Taliban leadership, but was more accessible to journalists, who often reported that he did not belong to the inner circle of the Taliban leadership. He was captured by American forces in 2002.
