In the fictional Star Wars expanded universe, the AT-PT (All Terrain Personal Transport) is a single seat light anti-infantry walker used during the latter years of the Old Republic era.It was developed and produced by Rothana Heavy Engineering for use during the Clone Wars. It is lightly armoured and has twin blaster cannons and a concussion grenade launcher that are mostly effective only against infantry. Nonetheless, its superior agility compensates for its light armor. Exemplified by its capacity to cross most terrain, such as: shallow water, mountain regions, jungles, and cities, and climb inclines of up to 45 degrees, as well as, cross obstacles which repulsorlift and treaded vehicles would be hindered by. The AT-PT appeared in the novel Dark Force Rising by Timothy Zahn aboard one of the Dreadnaughts of the legendary Katana fleet. Many of the concepts pioneered in the AT-PT were used in the AT-AT (All Terrain Armoured Transport) and the AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport).
The Empire still utilizes a limited number of these walkers, as does the Rebel Alliance and New Republic.
Its most visible appearance, however, was in video games. It debuted on the 3rd level of Star Wars: Rogue Squadron for the Nintendo 64, and was later featured in the Gamecube title Star Wars Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader and also in the multiplayer mode of Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike.
