A00 is the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings designator for unconventional chess openings with an unusual first move from White. Such openings include:
- Anderssen's Opening 1.a3
- Amar Opening (also known as Paris Opening) 1.Nh3
- Barnes Opening (also known as Gedult's Opening) 1.f3
- Benko's Opening 1.g3
- Clemenz Opening 1.h3
- Desprez Opening 1.h4
- Dunst Opening 1.Nc3
- Durkin Opening (also known as Durkin's Attack) 1.Na3
- Grob's Attack 1.g4

- Saragossa Opening 1.c3
- Sokolsky Opening (also known as Polish or Orangutan Opening) 1.b4

Note that if white plays a regular opening, like the King's Pawn Game and black responds in some unconventional way, the opening is not categorized under the ECO code A00. For instance 1.e4 a6 is classified under B00 (King's Pawn Opening).

Because these openings are not popular with elite chess players, the standard opening references (see chess opening) do not cover them in detail.
