77th Street is a local station, located at Lexington Avenue and 77th Street, with two side platforms; the express tracks pass underneath in a lower level. The station's fare control is ten steps up from the platform level; there is no crossover between the uptown and downtown directions. Some old wall lights exist, but most are gone or falling off the walls. Emergency exits from the lower level express tracks are on both platforms. The station was renovated in 2003.
Lenox Hill Hospital is near the station, and is included in some of the mosaics.
