|
(29th century - 30th century - 31st century - other centuries)
The 30th century comprises the years 2901-3000 (Gregorian calendar) and 2900-2999 (Common Era).
30th century in 20th and 21st century pop culture
For the sole reason of being the last century of a millennium, the year 3000 is viewed as a background for a pivotal point in future history. The next turn of the millennium has a special appeal to science fiction writers.
- The comic book series Legion of Super-Heroes takes place 1000 years in the future, so the majority of its stories to date occur in the 30th century.
- Busted, a British pop group, had a song named Year 3000 in which "not much has changed, but they live underwater".
- 2933 The fall of the Third Reich according to Adolf Hitler.
- 2990s The Badoon are at war with the Earth and its solar system colonies. The events were depicted in the Guardians of the Galaxy comic book by Marvel Comics.
- The R-2000 Millennium Bug may happen on December 31st 2999.
- The TV show Futurama takes place 1000 years in the future with the first episode taking place on December 31, 2999. It then continues into the year 3000, and subsequently the early 31st century.
