A stone can be any of the following:

• A rock, as in geology.
  • Used in a method of execution called stoning.
• A gemstone, as used in jewelry.
• A unit of mass or weight equal to 14 pounds.
• The hard seed-case of a large fruit such as a peach.

Stone is also the name of a place in Staffordshire, England, situated between Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford.

To be stoned refers to the psychoactive effects of drugs such as cannabis.
