Steinberg

Steinberg is the name commonly given to a German firm that has been renamed from Steinberg Research AG to Steinberg Soft- und Hardware GmbH, and was active in the United States for a few years under the name Steinberg North America, Inc. In January 2003, the Steinberg was aquired by US firm Pinnacle Systems, within which it remains as an independent company.

Steinberg predominatly produce MIDI music sequencer software and digital audio editing tools.

The firm was founded in 1984 by Karl Steinberg and Manfred Rürup. Their first product was the MIDI sequencer Steinberg Pro 16 for the Commodore 64.
