Regeneration
- In telecommunication,
the term regeneration has the following meanings:
- In a regenerative repeater, the process by which digital
signals are amplified, reshaped, retimed, and retransmitted. A synonym
for this meaning is "positive feedback."
- In a storage
or display device, the restoration of stored or displayed data
that have deteriorated. For example, conventional cathode
ray tube displays must be continually regenerated for the data to
remain displayed.
- In computer
graphics, the sequence
of events needed to generate a display image from its representation
in storage.
