Paris Hilton

Paris Hilton (born on February 17, 1981) is an American actor and model. She was born to Rick and Kathy Hilton, and the great-granddaughter of Conrad Hilton, the founder of the Hilton hotel chain. Their family's worth is estimated at $300 million. Paris has a younger sister, Nicky, who she is often mentioned in connection with.

She moved between several homes in her youth, including in the Waldorf-Astoria area of Manhattan, Beverly Hills, and the Hamptons. After secondary education, she decided not to go to college. She went to work as a fashion model for Catherine Malandrino and Marc Bouwer and worked on an ad campaign for an Italian label called Iceberg. Pictures of her have graced the pages of several magazines, including GQ, Vanity Fair, and FHM.

Paris has also been widely mentioned by tabloids. In 2000, the National Enquirer reported a casual friendship with Leonardo di Caprio as something far more intimate. She has however had relationships with several notables, including actor Edward Furlong, boxer Oscar De La Hoya, model Jason Shaw, and singer Derek Whibley.

Paris has also received a lot of press for various things, mainly party antics. She's been said to have pushed in front of others in line for a public bathroom, saying she only wanted to look at herself in the mirror. She's danced on the top of bar banquettes, gone around wearing shirts saying "Got Blow?", and gone around wearing no top at all, mainly in order to receive lots of attention. A sex tape featuring her and actor Rick Solomon has added even more to the controversy.

Lately she has worked to clean up her image a little by getting some jobs. She had a cameo appearance in Zoolander (2000), and has also appeared in QIK2JDG as a model, as well as The Hillz, Wonderland, and the big-screen adaptation of The Cat in the Hat. She also appears in the 2003 FOX reality series The Simple Life, featuring her living on a farm with her friend, Nicole Richie.

On top of her acting career she has also helped to design purses for Samantha Thavasa and Toys for Tots. Despite her successes, her recent attempts to start a modelling company and a makeup line seem to have been unsuccessful.

Paris Hilton is known to reporters and tabloid magazines as "Paris the Heiresss". Is she the next up and coming superstar? or is she just a spoiled filthy rich young Hilton? Only time will tell. She wants to start singing and also hopes to extend her acting career into mor main character roles. In her small role in Zoolander she stars as herself, kind of ironic, a comedy about the high fashion industry. She is known as one of Hollywood's biggest party girls and that is why she has usually been in the press. She has also had a lot of attention from the press, brought on because of a sex video released on the internet of her and actor Rick Solomon.

Her new TV show, the Simple Life, has proven to be a huge success. The show is similiar to the sitcom "Green Acres" of the 1960's. It stars Paris and Lionel Richie's daughter Nicole Richie. They are put with a family on a farm in Altus, Arkansas and are forced to live there for a month. They are placed in different jobs every couple days to see how working in the real world is. The humor in the show is seeing and hearing how stuckup and pampered these girls really are. The show is called a "reality TV show" by some, however, much of the show is planned out and scripted beforehand.

Why is Paris Hilton famous? Paris is the first born in the latest generation of the Hilton family, the prestige family of hotel fame, whose net worth is aproaching 350 million. Well money talks and people listen because her TV show, The Simple Life, netted higher ratings than the interviews with President Bush on December 16, 2003. The show had an estimated 11.8 million viewers, not bad for a show about a rich 22 year old being stuck on a farm in Arkansas. Her quote, "I dont want to be known as the grandaughter of the Hilton's. I want to be known as Paris."

In November 2003, Paris Hilton was rumoured to have a relationship with Sum 41 vocalist/guitarist Deryck Whibley. She was Deryck's date at the Kerrang awards.
