Omar Bongo

El-Hadj Omar Bongo (born 1935) is the president of Gabon. He has ruled the country since 1967 making him one of the longest-serving presidents in the world. He has been criticised as being a strongman, but allowed what he claimed to be multi-party elections in 1993 and 1998, in response to protests.
