Norwegian Army

The modern Norwegian Army was founded in the first half of the 17th century. The Army is the largest of the armed services in Norway, with a peacetime strength of 15,000 (including civilian employees), and approx. 89,000 after mobilization. The Army is mainly located in two areas, mid-Troms and the south-eastern part of the country, with other special units like the King's Guards (HMKG) and the border guards placed elsewhere).
