Medicaid
The
Medicaid program in the
United States, created on
July 30,
1965 provides health
insurance for the
poor. It is administered by the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) (formerly the
Health Care Financing Administration) in the
United States Department of Health and Human Services. The Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) was established in
1997.
